Rear-view mirrors are an essential part when participating in road traffic. They are an important safety aspect, not only for motorized road users, but also for non-motorized cyclists. E-bikes are divided into two categories: support up to 25 km/h through the maximum 250-watt motor and pedelecs with up to 4 kW power and a maximum speed of 45 km/h. E-bikes up to 25 km/h pedal assistance are legally considered as bicycles. With those bike models, a rear-view mirror is not required, but can be retrofitted for personal safety. S-pedelecs up to 45 km/h are required by the current law to have a mirror (as of 01/01/2017).
