Bowden cables have different uses. You control your gearshift and your brakes. For the perfect braking performance, a perfect condition of the brake cables and brake housing is important. Like any moving part, the Bowden cable is not protected from wear and should be replaced regularly. You should change the cables if you notice heavy operation of the brake or a strong decelerating effect. Before the brake fails completely, you should replace the brake cables in a timely manner and overhaul the brakes. For shifting gear, tension is applied to the shifting cable by the shift lever, whereby the corresponding gears are selected. Either you notice the point in time for the necessary change on unclean switching operations, the cable must be adjusted repeatedly or a gear change takes place only with difficulty.
