Outer Housings for Shifting Cables

Outer housings are an important part of the shifting system. The wire ropes are guided in outer shells for better protection against the weather. Nevertheless, over time, the outer housings also age, leak and allow moisture to attack the steel wire. The result is a worsened and inaccurate shifting. Regularly check your shift cables for external damage and replace the outer shells, if not the entire Bowden cable.
